Freewest Recommences Diamond Drilling at Clarence Stream, New Brunswick and Prepares for Deep Infinitem Electromagnetic Survey at Sungold Property in Ontario.

MONTREAL -- Mackenzie I. Watson, President and CEO of Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:FWR), is pleased to announce that diamond drilling has recommenced on the Company's Clarence Stream property. The wholly-owned property comprises 11,296 hectares and is located close to infrastructure, 70 kilometres south of Fredericton, in south-western New Brunswick.

E[acute accent]Drilling will continue to test the on-strike and depth potential of several gold deposits, known as proximal deposits, that occur in a high-strain zone over a two-kilometre strike length. In particular, it will focus on tracing the West Zone where drilling by the Company in late 2005, returned some very encouraging results. Such results include 26.38 g/t gold over 5.00 metres, 4.90 g/t gold over 11.00 metres, 39.80 g/t gold over 2.00 metres and 15.84 g/t gold across 2.00 metres (see news release of January 16, 2006).

E[acute accent]Diamond drilling will also target a high-grade zone of gold and antimony at the site of one of the distal deposits known as the AD Zone. Earlier drill intercepts from the AD Zone returned 32.29 g/t gold and 23.10 percent antimony over 7.25 metres (hole AD03-53) and 4.70 g/t gold and 2.66 percent antimony over 5.00 metres (hole AD03-57). Drilling results will be released as they become available.

E[acute accent]In other developments, the Company will shortly commence a deep-penetrating InfiniTEM ground electromagnetic survey (EM) on the Sungold property. The Sungold property contains a high-grade, copper-zinc volcanogenic massive sulphide discovery known as the Wye Lake occurrence. Since its discovery, the Wye Lake occurrence has been the focus of intensive exploration work completed during the last 6 months including geological mapping, trenching, horizontal loop electromagnetic surveys (HLEM) as well as diamond drilling.

E[acute accent]Drilling of the Wye Lake occurrence returned modest results including 6.21 percent zinc over 4.43 metres and 1.22 percent copper over 5.74 metres in massive sulphide and stringer-type copper mineralization, respectively. The Wye Lake occurrence has been tested by drilling over an intermittent strike length of one kilometre and to a vertical depth of 175 metres, where it remains open along strike and to depth.

E[acute accent]The InfiniTEM survey is intended to help detect massive sulphide mineralization below the current levels of drilling (175 vertical metres) and along the projected strike length of the Wye Lake occurrence. Any deep conductors detected in such a survey will be prime targets for diamond drilling. Additionally, at least 3 strong, short-strike HLEM anomalies located proximal to the Wye Lake occurrence remain to be drilled. Drilling is anticipated for all of the targets in early March.
