Free tax assistance offered at local IRS offices.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 1995--Were you caught up in the last-minute rush of filing your income tax return last year?

Do you want to avoid rushing this year on April 15, a Saturday, to meet the Monday, April 17 deadline for filing?

What can you do now with less than one month to go until April 17? One option is to go to the nearest IRS walk-in office. If you get all your papers together and do what you can, IRS employees will help you with the rest, including filing your return electronically at no charge.

Five local offices are open to help you. The IRS suggests that you come in early while there are still no lines. The offices are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and are located at the following addresses:

-- 9050 Flair Dr. in El Monte;

-- 300 N. Los Angeles, downtown Federal Building, fourth floor;

-- 6230 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys Federal Building, first floor;

and

-- 11000 W. Wilshire, Room 7201, Westwood Federal Building.

In addition, a temporary office is located at 4360 E. Dozier St., at the Sheriff's East Los Angeles Community Center and is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch).
