Free festival Saturday offers music, food and fun.

There will be 12 hours of free entertainment Saturday at the third annual Paxton Festival, all within walking distance of downtown.

The festival opens at 11 a.m. on the Town Common, with music from Lou Borelli's 17-piece band, backed up by roving entertainment from a juggler juggler

Entertainer who keeps several plates, knives, balls, or other objects in the air at once by tossing and catching them. The art of juggling has been practiced since antiquity.

Boy Scout Troop 105 will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages and chicken throughout the day and children's games, featuring a Moonwalk moon·walk

 sponsored by the Girl Scouts, will be held next to St. Columba Church.

A firetruck and police cruiser will be open for inspection all afternoon. The day includes craft tables featuring local artisans on the Common.

The Fathers of Paxton will lead children in a singalong Noun 1. singalong - informal group singing of popular songs

 next to the House of Pizza at 1 p.m., to be followed by the Schwarze Schafe (Black Sheep) Band, sponsored by the Paxton Cultural Council, on the Common.

A car show, sponsored by Forrest's Repair, is open to all entrants, for a fee of $10 per car; prizes will be awarded.

Kevin Hubbard of Paxton, a disc jockey, will serve as a roving master of ceremonies.

The evening entertainment will feature the annual Summer Solstice solstice (sŏl`stĭs) [Lat.,=sun stands still], in astronomy, either of the two points on the ecliptic that lie midway between the equinoxes (separated from them by an angular distance of 90°).  Road Race at 6 and the annual Summer Jam, a concert of local rock groups, on the Little League field.

The committee, led by Scott Farrar (508) 799-9874 and Forrest Smith (508) 756-3282, is still seeking sponsors for the various activities as well as items - such as gift certificates, services, lessons, donated time - to be auctioned.

Auction items have already by donated by Barre Savings Bank savings bank, financial institution that, until recently, performed only the following functions: receiving savings deposits of individuals, investing them, and providing a modest return to its depositors in the form of interest. , Pampered pam·per
