THE chance to experience underwater swimming Underwater swimming can refer to:
  • Unequipped swimming beneath the water surface, such as the streamline style
  • Scuba diving, snorkeling, or free-diving
  • Swimming at the 1900 Summer Olympics - Men's underwater swimming
 and become a fully-trainer scuba diver is being offered to people in Nuneaton.

They are invited to have a free taster session with members of Marlin Sub Aqua Club, which is based at the town's Pingles Leisure Centre.

"Anyone, of any age, is welcome to come along and see what it's like," said diving officer Allan Kime. "We have all the equipment available, along with qualified instructors, and visitors can sample snorkel snorkel, tube through which a submarine or diver can draw air while underwater. When in use, the top of the snorkel tube extends above the water surface into the air.  and sub-aqua swimming. The idea is to whet their appetite, so they might be interested in taking up the sport."

The Marlin was started 10 years ago and is an affiliated branch of the British Sub Aqua Club. There are more than 40 members, who meet at the Pingles every Thursday, at 7.30pm.

Members from as young as eight can do snorkel swimming and above 14 can learn scuba diving scuba diving

Swimming done underwater with a self-contained underwater-breathing apparatus (scuba), as opposed to skin diving, which requires only a snorkel, goggles, and flippers. Scuba gear was invented by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Émile Gagnan in 1943.
