Microsoft's Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP is a free download. Designed for use in computer labs and libraries, the software restricts users from changing system settings, accessing sensitive data, and running unauthorized software. It defends shared computers from viruses and spyware by clearing changes to the hard drive every time the computer restarts and streamlines the desktop to improve the end-user experience. Since testing out the beta version, changes have been made to the toolkit. These include users' ability to now view the status of Windows Disk Protection.
