Franklin Health Trust Transfers Funds to the St. Christopher's Foundation for Children; Money to Benefit Pediatric Causes.

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2003

The Board of Directors of the St. Christopher's Foundation for Children announced today that Franklin Health Trust has transferred funds that, with insurance proceeds, will equal approximately $2 million to the St. Christopher's Foundation for Children. The transfer agreement, signed June 19th, represents the final step in endowed funds that had been originally donated to benefit St. Christopher's Hospital for Children St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is a non-sectarian 161 bed children's hospital located in Philadelphia. It's Physicians serve as the pediatrics department at the Drexel University College of Medicine.

 and the community it serves but had been affected by the Allegheny Health bankruptcy in 1998.

Franklin Health Trust and the St. Christopher's Foundation for Children Board were created in the wake of the Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation bankruptcy. The trust funds and endowments were split because the hospitals were purchased by Tenet HealthSystem, a for profit entity.

St. Christopher's Foundation for Children Board has been accepting donations on behalf of the community served by St. Christopher's Hospital for Children for the last five years. It has been distributing the money to benefit numerous pediatric pediatric /pe·di·at·ric/ (pe?de-at´rik) pertaining to the health of children.

The $2 million represents funds earmarked for the Ralph W. Brenner Endowed Chair in Pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children -- as well as, according to according to

 Susan Sessa, Esq., President of the St. Christopher's Foundation for Children, the money raised by the upcoming Manuel Stamatakis Golf Classic at the Philadelphia Country Club on August 25th sponsored by the Drexel College of Medicine. She added that part of the $2 million will also go to support the Iain F.S. Black, M.D. Speakers and Visiting Professors Fund; the Sarah Long Sarah Long (1938-23 November 1987) was a British actor and television presenter.

Born in London, she is best known for her long run as a presenter on the preschool children's television series Play School from the 1960s until the 1980s.
