Sciame, who succeeds Skidmore Owings & Merrill Partner Marilyn Jordan Taylor, takes over the Building Congress during a period of increased visibility for the industry but also at a time of uncertainty about the future of the City's public capital programs and private development.

As Chairman, he will help shape the organization's policies and programs and continue its distinguished history as an advocate of innovative design, responsible development and infrastructure investment.

"The Building Congress is a unique organization that focuses on issues of concern to all sectors of the industry," Sciame said. "We are proud to be an important part of the exciting and challenging projects now underway in New York, including rebuilding the World Trade Center site and expanding the region's transportation network.

"Beyond these, the Building Congress and the companies, agencies, unions and associations that comprise its membership, consistently supports investment in the City's infrastructure, such as schools and power plants, and in projects that will help our economy grow, such as the 2012 Olympics and development of Manhattan's far West Side."

"The New York Building Congress has been blessed through its 83 years with outstanding leadership," said Building Congress President Richard T. Anderson. "No two persons better exemplify this history of devotion and intelligent service to the industry and the City than Marilyn Jordan Taylor and Frank Sciame."
