(London), a publisher of books and Journals in the social science and humanities fields, for 9.5 million [pounds sterling] plus an amount equal to Cass' cash balances at completion of distribution reserves currently estimated at 1.8 million [pounds sterling]. A further payment of up to 3.7 million [pounds sterling] could be made depending on performance targets. The acquired company is a publisher of academic books and journals in the areas of politics, international relations international relations, study of the relations among states and other political and economic units in the international system. Particular areas of study within the field of international relations include diplomacy and diplomatic history, international law, , history, sports studies, military science and developmental studies. The company publishes more than 100 new book titles per year with a backlist back·list n. T&F said the acquistion is consistent with its strategy of increasing its portfolio of 'must-have' information. T&F ceo David Smith said the acquisition of Cass "is consistent with our strategy of growing our business through a combination of organic growth and earnings-enhanced acquisitions. In the last five years, we have acquired and successfully integrated nine businesses." Smith said that T&F will "continue to examine a number of opportunities." The company will publish approximately 860 journals and 2400 new book titles this year. |
