The Netopia R9100 Ethernet Router with its native PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) A protocol from Microsoft that is used to create a virtual private network (VPN) over the Internet. The R9100 fully meets businesses' growing need for broadband Internet access Broadband Internet access, often shortened to just "broadband", is high speed Internet access—typically contrasted with dial-up access over modem.

The router easily connects to the Ethernet port of the ADSL modem, supplied by France Telecom with every line, providing all the features and benefits that distinguish Netopia routers in the marketplace. The Netopia R9100 Ethernet Router, like all Netopia R-series routers, features a built-in firewall, VPN and MultiNAT. These capabilities allow businesses to set up secure access for remote offices, business partners or telecommuters. The R9100 also provides redundant Internet connectivity through a second WAN interface for analog or ISDN dial backup.

Businesses using the Netopia R3100 ISDN Router can simply upgrade their router to support ADSL by plugging a Netopia Ethernet card into the router's second WAN interface. Netopia's unique dual-WAN architecture and support for dial backup means that businesses can maintain the router's original ISDN WAN interface as a backup to the ADSL connection.

To highlight the Netopia R9100 router and the Netissimo 2 ADSL access, Netopia and France Telecom will organize a tour in Paris in September and October. These meetings will help the reseller to better know the commercial opportunities of the ADSL market.

"The R9100 allows ADSL Internet customers to enjoy unique business-class capabilities offered by Netopia Internet equipment. We look forward to working with France Telecom and Netopia's network of more than 700 trained resellers to expand ADSL service throughout France," said Mikael Vaede, Netopia's Country Manager for France.
