  • Robert Moore (Pennsylvania) (1778-1831), United States Congressman from Pennsylvania
, Gensym president. "I think our mutual customers will benefit from the synergy between Gensym's intelligent, real-time software products and Foxboro's advanced distributed process control systems."

"Gensym's G2 software offers a proven on-line expert system environment that runs directly on the I/A Series System and enhances our own capabilities to create an intelligent monitoring and control system," said Peter Lovelace, Foxboro president of U.S. operations. "Our customers are finding that the combination of G2's object-oriented graphical environment and the I/A Series system's object-based communications saves them a lot of time, since object-oriented architectures allow for reusability between plants."

G2 resides directly on Foxboro's latest family of RISC/SPARC application processors. This eliminates the cost and complexity associated with using an external computer. Foxboro-developed bridge software to the I/A Series Object Manager allows G2's decision making capabilities to be tightly integrated with I/A Series Applications. Process knowledge and control information are displayed on RISC/SPARC-based I/A Series workstations.

Recently, Gensym and Foxboro France annouced a major order from Total, the second largest oil and gas company in France. Total will be running Gensym's G2 on I/A Series systems at a number of their plants for operator advisory functions and intelligent alarm handling. The combined integrated systems order is valued at over $2 million.
