Fox Sports en Espanol Acquires Exclusive Spanish-Language Rights to Brazilian National Team Friendly Matches Through 2008.


Spanish-Language Sports Network Sublicenses Programming from Fox Soccer Channel Fox Soccer Channel is a United States digital cable network, owned by News Corporation, that specializes in soccer. The channel took its current name on February 7, 2005; before then, the network was known as Fox Sports World, Launched Nov. 1, 1997.

LOS ANGELES -- As part of a three-year sublicense agreement with Fox Sports International's Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en EspaEol today announced it has acquired the exclusive Spanish-language television rights to approximately 12 Brazilian National Team friendly matches through 2008. The deal, which includes U.S. and Caribbean territory television, high-definition and video-on-demand rights, gives Fox Sports en EspaEol two matches in 2006, as well as approximately five matches each year in 2007 and 2008, respectively.

Fox Sports en EspaEol aired the first match between Brazil and Ecuador prior to announcing this deal on Tuesday, October 10; Brazil reduced Ecuador to ten men, capitalizing on the man advantage to win 2-1. Live and exclusive Spanish-language coverage resumes Wednesday, November 15 with five-time FIFA World Cup Champion Brazil on the pitch against Switzerland. A complete telecast schedule will be announced at a later date and made available online at fse.tv.
