Fox Sports En Espanol to Offer Live Broadcasts of Historic Copa Nissan Sudamericana Matches Featuring Mexican Teams.

--Matches Mark Mexican Teams' First-Ever Appearance in Prestigious Tournament

Fox Sports en Espanol announced today it will offer exclusive live broadcasts of two historic Copa Nissan Sudamericana matches this week. Marking the first-ever appearance of teams from Mexico in the prestigious tournament, Los Pumas de la UNAM will face off against Bolivia's The Strongest, Tuesday, September 20, starting at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 ET. On Wednesday, September 21, Club America will take on Colombia's Atletico Nacional, starting at 7:30 PM PT/10:30 ET.

"The Copa Nissan Sudamericana is one of the soccer world's premier international club tournaments," said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Sports en Espanol. "We anticipate that the addition of Pumas and Club America to the field will score big among our viewers and further bolster the popularity of the Copa Nissan Sudamericana, particularly among Mexican soccer fans, who make up the majority of the U.S. Spanish-language television viewing audience. We're excited to be the only network in the nation to offer live action from this prestigious tournament."

. The teams will face each other again in the return leg October 5 in Bolivia.

Wednesday's match featuring Club America and Atletico Nacional will be broadcast live from the Los Angeles Coliseum. Wednesday's first-leg match marks the first time in history that a Mexican team will compete in an official South American tournament on U.S. soil. Fox Sports en Espanol's Luis Rodriguez Luis Rodriguez or Luis Rodríguez can refer to different people:
  • Luis Orlando Rodríguez, a baseball player from Venezuela
  • Luis Rodríguez Olmo, a baseball player from Puerto Rico
  • Luis J. Rodríguez, a U.S.
 will host the broadcast in studio, with Samuel Jacobo and Christian Bozzo providing on-site match commentary and Pepe Mantilla serving as the sideline reporter. The return match will take place in Colombia on October 5.

A CONMEBOL-sanctioned tournament, the 2005 Copa Nissan Sudamericana features 34 teams from 12 countries, including 31 teams from CONMEBOL CONMEBOL Confederacion Sudamericana de Futbol  member countries and 3 from CONCACAF CONCACAF Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Soccer)
CONCACAF Confederacion Norte, Centroamericana y del Caribe de Futbol Asociacion (Spanish) 
. Participating clubs hail from Brazil (8), Argentina (7); Mexico (2); Bolivia (2); Chile (2); Colombia (2); Ecuador (2); Peru (2); Paraguay (2); Uruguay (2); Venezuela (2); and United States (1).

Offering more than 1,500 hours of live sports programming a year, Fox Sports en Espanol is the only Spanish-language network to offer exclusive coverage of the four major international club tournaments from Latin America, encompassing more than 125 matches and in excess of 500 hours of live coverage of the most important matches from the Torneo InterLiga, Copa Toyota Libertadores, CONCACAF Copa de Campeones, and the Copa Nissan Sudamericana.
