Fox Soccer Channel Announces 2006 United Soccer Leagues Schedule; Live USL First Division Action Anchors 2006 Schedule; W-League Semis Make Debut.


TAMPA, Fla. -- Fox Soccer Channel Fox Soccer Channel is a United States digital cable network, owned by News Corporation, that specializes in soccer. The channel took its current name on February 7, 2005; before then, the network was known as Fox Sports World, Launched Nov. 1, 1997.  today announced its television broadcast schedule for the United Soccer Leagues 2006 season. The schedule, which begins June 18, will include the first-ever broadcast of the women's W-League semifinals in August and a new USL (UNIX System Laboratories, Inc.) An AT&T subsidiary formed in 1990, responsible for developing and marketing Unix. In 1993, USL was acquired by Novell and merged into Novell's UNIX Systems Group (USG). See Univel.

 Championship will be featured the following weekend on Saturday, August 12, and the USL Second Division The United Soccer Leagues Second Division (often referred to as simply, USL-2) is a professional men's soccer league in North America, part of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) league pyramid.  Championship will air live on Fox Soccer Channel two weeks later on Saturday, August 26.

The television schedule culminates with the USL First Division Championship on Saturday, September 30 and a special USL SoccerFest show on Saturday, December 2, featuring the Super Y-League The Super Y-League is the highest form of American and Canadian youth soccer. It consists of over 100 teams, many of which are operated by clubs from MLS to PDL. Age groups
The Super Y-League has these following age groups:
  • U-13
  • U-14
  • U-15
 Finals and the USL Annual General Meeting.

Steve Bell will serve as play-by-play commentator for all matches on Fox Soccer Channel. A former player for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Bell has been involved with the USL on Fox Soccer Channel broadcast team for the last five years. Executive Producer Dave Bolton will also return in 2006. Bolton has worked on USL broadcasts since 1993, handling over 250 games and shows.
