Fox & Fowle wins design award. (Design and Development).Fox & Fowle Architects has received a prestigious award for its design of a striking new addition to the Walter Rand Transportation Center The Walter Rand Transportation Center is a transportation hub located at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Broadway in Camden, New Jersey, named for Walter Rand, a former New Jersey State Senator, who specialized in transportation issues while serving in both houses of the New , in Camden, NJ. The 5,000-SF steel and glass-design won a 2002 Bronze Star Bronze Star n. A U.S. military decoration awarded either for heroism or for meritorious achievement in ground combat. Noun 1. from the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. Organized in 1857, the Institute conducts various activities and programs to support the profession and enhance its public image, including periodically awarding the AIA (AIA/NJ). Fox & Fowle Architects has also designed the Hoboken Terminal Station and the Tunnel Station in the City of Union for the Hudson-Bergen LightRail; both projects are under construction. The firm is also part of the team designing Manhattan's new Second Avenue Subway. The addition to the Rand Transportation Center is visualized with a green folding steel roof, which bends to form canopies, skylights, walls, information panels, benches and light-wells. All are set off in sharp contrast to the transparent glass exterior curtain walls, which would allow clear lines of sights through the station, let daylight flood the interior and make it easy for the authorities to monitor security in the station. The existing center, located in Camden at Mickle Boulevard and Broadway, will continue to serve the New Jersey Transit The New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) is a statewide public transportation system serving the state of New Jersey, and Orange and Rockland counties in New York. It operates bus, light rail, and commuter rail services throughout the state, notably connecting to major Rail System, the New Jersey Transit Bus System, and the new Southern New Jersey Light Rail Transit The name Light Rail Transit is used by the following specific light rail systems, either as an official name or otherwise:
PATCO Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization, Inc (Florida) to serve as an intermodal facility between PATCO, local buses, and the new SNJLR (Southern New Jersey Light Rail Transit System.) The 2002 Bronze Star award was presented at the AIA/NJ's annual Design Awards Day Competition on Oct. 17, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology's School of Architecture in Newark, New Jersey. Fox & Fowle's innovative design also earned an award from the Society of Registered Architects earlier this year. |
