The crowds drawn to the Fountain booth were very complimentary on the new product which includes a new style 29 foot Fever sport boat, a 35 foot canopied competition series Poker Run A Poker run (also known as a Poker Derby) is an organized event using a motorcycle, boat, car or other form of transportation where participants travel over a predesignated route and, at designated stops on the route, draw playing card(s). special sport boat, and a 42 foot high performance catamaran catamaran (kăt'əmərăn`), watercraft made up of two connected hulls or a single hull with two parallel keels. Originally used by the natives of Polynesia, the catamaran design was adopted by Western boat builders in the 19th cent. . The most excitement was about the new wide beam boats: a 37 foot wide beam sport cruiser cruiser, large, fast, moderately armed warship, intermediate in type between the aircraft carrier and the destroyer. During World War II, battle cruisers operated as small battleships, combining in one vessel maximum qualities of gun caliber, armor protection, and , with a top speed in excess of 70 MPH, and a 37 foot wide beam center (Mach.) the fulcrum or pin on which the working beam of an engine vibrates. Reggie Fountain, Chairman and President of Fountain Powerboats, attributed the strength of sales primarily to the Company's new models. Sales of our current line were about equal to a normal year at Miami, which is exceptional given the softness in the marine market. "Miami has always been a good show for us, but with the softness in the marine market our expectations were lower than in prior years," stated Mr. Fountain, "but when it was all said and done, the show this year equaled our best years in dollar sales." Mr. Fountain also stated the results of the show together with our cutting of expenses such as the sale of the Company airplane, and the 50% reduction in racing expenses should see the Company profitable in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2001. |
