magazine, for a 2001 Well-Connected Award in the category of Content Switch. The ServerIronXL was chosen for its innovative superior content-switching capabilities designed to enable network managers at enterprises and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to control and manage today's exploding Internet content, web transactions, web applications and e-business traffic flows.

"We are very excited that our ServerIronXL has been selected as a finalist for the Well-Connected Award," said Bobby Johnson, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.  customers and our products have proven to be the best-of-breed in their class winning multiple awards over the years. We're excited to get the opportunity to win again," added Johnson.

This year, the winners of the Network Computing Well-Connected Awards will be revealed at a gala event held on the evening before one of the industry's largest trade shows, NetWorld+Interop 2001 Las Vegas. All Finalists will be highlighted in the May 14th issue of Network Computing and also on Network Computing Online at http://www.networkcomputing.com.

The ServerIronXL supports up to 1,000,000 concurrent connections per second and up to 4 Gbps of throughput supporting Foundry's full suite of Internet IronWare(TM) load balancing, global load balancing, firewall load balancing and caching features, including SwitchBack switch·back

(TM) and symmetric load balancing. Foundry's SwitchBack feature enables requested content to be served by the best return path. Incoming traffic is load balanced through the ServerIronXL, while requested content bypasses the switch and goes directly to the client. This significantly improves end users' performance and allows the system to scale to support Internet applications such as web pages, graphics and streaming media.

Symmetric load balancing enables users to build a fully redundant configuration in which two ServerIronXL's share active loads and act as a backup to each other in the event of a failure. This feature is designed for use in environments that require 100% uptime of Internet services on a 7 x 24 hour basis. The ServerIronXL is available in 8, 16 or 24 10/100 port base configurations with optional Fast or Gigabit Ethernet uplinks.

"No other annual awards program in the industry uses hand-on evaluations to choose its winners," said Fritz Nelson, Publisher of CMP's Network Computing. "Our editors worked at length to research and test the best offerings in the enterprise arena. Being named a Well-Connected Award Finalist is a true reflection of product quality rather than merely product popularity or marketing effectiveness."
