Foundry Networks Expands Sales Management Team With New Vice President of Japan Sales; New Executive Position Added to Support Rapid Growth in the Japan Market.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2002

Foundry Networks(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a leading provider of high-performance enterprise and service provider switching, routing and Web traffic management solutions, today announced the appointment of Hideaki Suematsu as vice president of Japan sales. Mr. Suematsu will manage all aspects of Foundry's sales and field operations focusing on the Japan market.

Mr. Suematsu has over 15 years of senior management experience and a proven track record of superior sales performance in Japan's networking business market. Prior to joining Foundry, Mr. Suematsu was the director of Japan sales for Extreme Networks since 1999 and was responsible for all aspects of its sales effort. Prior to that, Mr. Suematsu held senior sales management positions at DEC, StrataCom, Cisco, and Lucent.

At Foundry, Mr. Suematsu will help evolve and execute Foundry's sales strategy and further expand Foundry's leadership position in delivering Gigabit Ethernet, 10-Gigabit Ethernet and SONET/SDH solutions to Enterprise and Metropolitan Network customers in this critical market.
