Atchison Atchison, city (1990 pop. 10,656), seat of Atchison co., NE Kans., on the Missouri River; inc. 1881. It is a trade and industrial center in a rich grain producing area. Casting Corp., Atchison, KS, received a contract to supply Nippon Nippon (nĭp`ŏn, nĭpŏn`), name for Japan, derived from Dai Nippon, meaning Great Japan. The expression comes from the Chinese ideograph for the place where the sun comes from, or Land of the Rising Sun. Sharyo, Ltd., Nagoya Nagoya (nä'gō`yä), city (1990 pop. 2,154,793), capital of Aichi prefecture, central Honshu, Japan, on Ise Bay. A major port, transportation hub, and industrial center, it has iron- and steelworks, textile mills, aircraft factories, , Japan, with 600 sets of undercarriage railcar castings to be installed onto the new Gallery Cars for Metra Passenger Services, Chicago.
