Foundation supporters recognized at annual conference.


Florence P Kendall, PT, FAPTA FAPTA Fellows of the American Physical Therapy Association , received the 2005 Charles M Magistro Distinguished Service Award from the Foundation for Physical Therapy for her outstanding service and personal commitment to promoting the goals of the Foundation. The award was presented June 10, 2005, during the Honors and Awards Ceremony at APTA's annual conference in Boston.

Kendall is a long-time supporter of the Foundation and has served on the Foundation Board of Trustees board of trustees Politics The posse of thugs who oversee an institution's administration. See Board of directors. . The Henry O and Florence P Kendall Fund, named for her and her husband, was established to fund doctoral scholarships. It was endowed en·dow

 by Kendall's brother, Dr Arthur G Peterson, in 1998. In 2004, the Kendall endowment funded six $5,000 Mary McMillan Doctoral Scholarships, which were awarded to students beginning their first semester in a doctoral program. In addition, all proceeds from the book Golfers: Take Care of Your Back, which Kendall co-authored with Susan M Carpenter, PT, continue to help fund the mission of the Foundation.

Always an inspiration to physical therapist students, Kendall further demonstrated her commitment to physical therapy research by lending her expertise to help the fundraising efforts of students at the University of Maryland, Baltimore University of Maryland, Baltimore, (also known as UMB) was founded in 1807. It is one of the oldest universities in the United States and comprises some of the oldest professional schools in the nation and world.  (UMB (1) (Upper Memory Block) See UMA.

), for the 2004 Pittsburgh-Marquette Challenge. Kendall shared her expertise and knowledge of physical therapy with participants at a continuing education continuing education: see adult education.

Any form of learning provided for adults. In the U.S. the University of Wisconsin was the first academic institution to offer such programs (1904).
 course held during UMB's first-time entry in the Challenge. The course raised more than $4,000 and earned UMB third place in the 2004 Challenge.

Steven H Tepper, PT, PhD, received the first Robert C Bartlett Innovation in Fundraising Award at the Honors and Awards Ceremony. The Bartlett Award recognizes donors who carry out innovative fundraising activities that promote giving to the Foundation and the funding of physical therapy research.

In 3 years, Tepper has raised more than $7,000 for the Foundation. Tepper, a Foundation grant recipient in 1988, presents lectures throughout the country and offers course reference materials to the participants. The proceeds from the sale of the reference materials are donated to the Foundation, along with matching contributions Matching Contribution

 from fellow lecturers. Tepper's fundraising activity alerts hundreds of physical therapists to the importance of the Foundation and physical therapy research.

Dr Tepper is a professor at Shenandoah University Shenandoah University is a comprehensive Level VI private university with an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in over 80 programs in six schools: College of Arts and Sciences, Harry F. Byrd, Jr.  in Virginia and is the past president of APTA's Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section.
