Dr Binder-Macleod, a 1989 Foundation recipient and former Scientific Review Committee (SRC (SouRCe) Contrast with DST, which is an abbreviation of "destination." ) member, is chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Delaware [3] The student body at the University of Delaware is largely an undergraduate population. Delaware students have a great deal of access to work and internship opportunities. . He was awarded the first training grant from the National Institutes of Health for physical therapists to pursue doctoral degrees. The recipient of more than S10 million in federal funding, Dr Binder-Macleod has been a mentor to numerous students with research awards and grants.

Dr Snyder-Mackler is a 1988 and 1991 Foundation recipient and former SRC member. Her major clinical and scientific contribution documented the need to change interventions for patients with anterior cruciate ligament injury anterior cruciate ligament injury Sports medicine An injury most common in sports characterized by abrupt changes of direction–eg, football, skiing, tennis, soccer Clinical Swelling, tenderness of knee Management ACL reconstruction via arthroscopy . Dr Winstein, a 1986 and 1993 Foundation recipient, principal investigator of the Foundation's recently funded clinical research network, "PTClinResNet," has been instrumental in revolutionizing neurologic physical therapy by integrating motor learning theory and evidence-based practice into examination, evaluation, and intervention. She has received grants totaling more than $1 million from various peer-reviewed granting agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and the Foundation for Physical Therapy.

Pamela W Duncan, PT, PhD, FAPTA, a former member of the Foundation's SRC, received the 34th Mary McMillan Lecture Award for her sustained and enduring professional accomplishments and excellence in research, education, administration, and clinical practice. Louise Yurko, PT, MAEd, Foundation Trustee; Michael J Emery, PT, EdD, a 1985 Foundation recipient; and Rita Wong, PT, EdD, a 1988 Foundation recipient, were each bestowed the Lucy Blair Service Award for their mentoring and tutelage of physical therapy's emerging leaders, and their service to the APTA APTA American Physical Therapy Association.  at the chapter, section, and national levels.

Ann E Barr, PT, PhD, a 1998 and 1999 New Investigator Fellowship Training Initiative (NIFTI NIFTI Navy Infrared Thermal Imager (US Navy)
NIFTI Network Interface File and Tracking Information
NIFTI Network Interface to File Transfer in the Internet
) recipient, received the Eugene Michels New Investigator Award for her emerging talents as a physical therapist researcher. Dr Barr's work has focused on cumulative trauma disorders and the pathophysiology pathophysiology /patho·phys·i·ol·o·gy/ (-fiz?e-ol´ah-je) the physiology of disordered function.

Margaret L Schenkman, PT, PhD, a 1990 Foundation award and 2001 grant recipient, was given the Marian Williams Award for Research in Physical Therapy for her history of outstanding clinical research. Her research has focused on strength, balance, and sitto-stand kinematics kinematics: see dynamics.

. Dr Schenkman also received the Golden Pen Award in recognition of her superior writing skills as demonstrated in articles published in Physical Therapy and in recognition of her collaboration with others to make similar contributions to the Journal. She also serves as a manuscript reviewer.

David E Krebs, PT, DPT, PhD, a 1985 Foundation recipient, received the Helen J Hislop Award for Outstanding Contributions to Professional Literature for his lifelong commitment to writing and publishing professional works. Dr Krebs' continually growing list of publications includes 95 original research manuscripts, 92 abstracts, 37 reviews, and 4 books primarily in the areas of pathophysiology, neurophysiology neurophysiology /neu·ro·phys·i·ol·o·gy/ (-fiz?e-ol´ah-je) physiology of the nervous system.

, a 1981 and 1996 Foundation recipient, was one of the recipients of the Dorothy Briggs Memorial Scientific Inquiry Award honoring student members who have demonstrated the ability to develop well-conceived, suitably designed, and clearly expressed experimental investigation, for her article, "The Relationship of Role-Related Variables to Job Satisfaction and Commitment to the Organization in a Restructured Hospital Environment." (Phys Ther. 2002;82:984-999). This article examines changes in physical therapist role behavior, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment following hospital restructuring.

Teresa M Steffen, PT, PhD, a 1990 Foundation recipient, and Louise Mollinger, PT, MS, were recognized with the Chattanooga Research Award for the best clinical research article published in Physical Therapy for "Age-and Gender-Related Test Performance in Community-Dwelling Elderly People: Six-Minute Walk Test six-minute walk test

, Berg Balance Scale, Timed Up & Go Test, and Gait Speeds." (Phys Ther. 2002; 82:128-137). Dr Steffen and her colleagues studied 4 common clinical tests of functional levels to provide data on the tests' reliability and validity when used with community-dwelling older adults in different age groups. Their results underscore the need for age-related data of clinical tests of physical mobility.

Receiving the Jack Walker Award for the best article on clinical practice published in Physical Therapy that makes a significant contribution to patient care were Julie M Fritz, PT, PhD, ATC ATC Air Traffic Control

(Phys Ther. 2002;82:973-983). Drs Fritz and George found that fear-avoidance beliefs best predicted return-to-work status at 4 weeks.

Guy G Simoneau, PT, PhD, ATC, a 1996 and 1997 Foundation recipient, was given the Dorothy E Baethke-Eleanor J
