Recipients of the 2004 PODS I scholarships are: Sam Gombatto, PT, MS, Washington University Washington University, at St. Louis, Mo.; coeducational; est. as Eliot Seminary 1853, opened 1854, renamed 1857. It has a well-known medical school and school of social work as well as research centers for radiology, space studies, engineering computing, and the visual arts. in St Louis Minna Hung, PT, MS, Washington University in St Louis Wendy J Hurd, PT, MS, University of Delaware Donovan J Lott, PT, MS, Washington University in St Louis Richard B Souza, PT, MPT, University of Southern California John D Willson, PT, MSPT MSPT - Maintenance Support Product Team MSPT - Master of Science in Physical Therapy MSPT - Morning Star Polytechnic, University of Delaware Gombatto also is the recipient of the Barnes Leahy Scholarship, available to physical therapists to fund postprofessional doctoral studies in neurology. The recipient is selected from current applicants who are awarded a PODS I scholarship. This scholarship is generously funded by the Neurology Section Endowment Fund. PODS II scholarships are for physical therapists who have been formally admitted to doctoral candidacy. The 2004 recipients of $15,000 PODS II scholarships are: Almas Dossa PT, MSPT, MPH, CCS, Brandeis University Brandeis University, at Waltham, Mass.; coeducational; chartered and opened 1948. Although Brandeis was founded by members of the American Jewish community, the university operates as an independent, nonsectarian institution. Its graduate school of arts and sciences was established in 1953. The university's Florence Heller School for Advanced Studies in Social Welfare is well known, as is its Wien International Scholarship Program. Mark Kevin Garrison, PT, MS, Marquette University Jill C Heathcock, PT, MPT, University of Delaware Allison S Hyngstrom, PT, MS, Northwestern University Northwestern University, mainly at Evanston, Ill.; coeducational; chartered 1851, opened 1855 by Methodists. In 1873 it absorbed Evanston College for Ladies. Notable on the Evanston campus are Dearborn Observatory, the Technological Institute, and the theater department. The Deering library includes a noted collection of first- and limited-edition books on contemporary English and American literature. The schools of medicine, dentistry, and law are at Chicago.
