FotoNation Brashov office opens in Romania to develop core IP technologies.


Embedded imaging and connectivity solutions company FotoNation Inc., Galway, Ireland, is opening a new office in Brashov, Romania. The new office is dedicated to expanding FotoNation offerings, from software to hardware, by delivering high-performance chipset designs for embedded imaging products targeted for the digital camera and mobile cameraphone markets.

The Brashov team is developing core IP technologies that will be integrated into existing ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  solutions for FotoNation customers. The new hardware will provide optimized performance of current embedded software Instructions that permanently reside in a ROM or flash memory chip. Embedded software may be immediately available to the CPU or, for faster execution, may be transferred to RAM first and then executed.  offerings, including face detection and tracking, red-eye detection and removal, and motion deblurring, among others.
