Foster Wheeler awarded Glaxo contract.CLINTON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 3, 1995--Foster Wheeler Energy Limited has been awarded an $80-million (Singapore) contract by Glaxo Development Pte Ltd PTE LTD Private Limited for the detailed engineering, procurement and construction SSDF Svenska Schackdatorföreningen (Swedish Chess Computer Association) SSDF Ship Self Defense Force SSDF Softswitch Delivery Function ) at its Jurong site in Singapore. The contract was awarded to Foster Wheeler following successful completion of a front-end design package. Comprising production and pilot plant facilities, the SSDF will be located next to Glaxo's recently opened multipurpose plant Multipurpose plants are factories employed extensively in process industries for the manufacture of many types of products, particularly those which the production processes or the demand pattern are likely to change. , for which Foster Wheeler was also the main contractor. The production plant area will manufacture fluticasone propionate fluticasone propionate (fl Commenting on the facility's features, Les James, Foster Wheeler Project Manager, says, "Process flexibility and adaptability, cost effectiveness, containment and good facilities for decontamination decontamination /de·con·tam·i·na·tion/ (de?kon-tam-i-na´shun) the freeing of a person or object of some contaminating substance, e.g., war gas, radioactive material, etc. de·con·tam·i·na·tion n. were some of the key issues addressed in developing basic design concepts. The production building is designed for ease of future expansion to provide additional processing capability. Segregation of process areas within the building enables different products to be manufactured simultaneously." He adds, "The execution strategy for the SSDF project builds on the success of the multipurpose plant and substantial `roll-over' benefits are anticipated from the reuse of appropriate design features. The core of the project team comprises Foster Wheeler and Glaxo Wellcome personnel previously involved in the multipurpose plant and this has resulted in the rapid creation of a well-knit team capable of meeting the considerable challenges that lie ahead." Process commissioning is expected to commence in late 1997 with production during 1998. The new facility's ground-breaking ceremony took place at the Singapore site on June 20, 1995.
