Foseco acquisition complete.


Foseco Plc, Staffordshire Staffordshire (stăf`ərdshĭr), county (1991 pop. 1,020,300), 1,157 sq mi (2,997 sq km), W central England. The county seat is Stafford. The terrain is gently undulating except for a district of rugged moorlands in the north. , U.K., was acquired by Cookson Group Cookson Group plc is a leading materials technology company headquartered in London, England, which provides materials, processes and services to customers worldwide. The Group's operations are formed into three divisions – Electronics, Ceramics and Precious Metals.  Plc, London, at the end of April, finalizing a deal that had been in the works since October 2007.

 Foseco, the acquisition was approved by the board of directors of both companies and completed on April 4. Cookson had previously been involved in the molten metal industry under the name Vesuvius.

Foseco officials said the company would continue to serve the metalcasting industry, combining its resources with the Vesuvius portfolio to form a new business unit.

"We believe that by blending the very best of Vesuvius with the very best of Foseco, we will create a great business that will set the new global standard in providing innovative solutions for the [metalcasting] industry," said Francois Wanecq, Vesuvius president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Foseco's carbon bonded ceramics ceramics (sərăm`ĭks), materials made of nonmetallic minerals that have been permanently hardened by firing at a high temperature, or objects made of such materials.  business earned revenues of approximately $38 million for the year ended Dec. 31, 2006. It operates manufacturing plants in Scotland and the U.S.
