Fort Howard joint venture begins product shipments in China.


GREEN BAY, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 1996--Fort Howard has begun shipping its line of sanitary tissue products from its new joint venture converting operation in China to retailers in the Shanghai metropolitan area.

Fort Howard's joint venture partner is CIMIC CIMIC civil-military cooperation (US DoD)
CIMIC Center for Information Management, Integration, and Connectivity (Rutgers)
CIMIC Civil Military Coordination
 Holdings Ltd., an international company with existing operations in China. Each company owns 50% of the joint venture entity.

CIMIC/Fort Howard Tissue Co. markets the Silk 'n Soft(TM) brand of facial tissue, napkins and bath tissue. The line of premium consumer tissue products, featuring a tulip tulip [Pers.,=turban], any plant of the large genus Tulipa, hardy, bulbous-rooted members of the family Liliaceae (lily family), indigenous to north temperate regions of the Old World from the Mediterranean to Japan and growing most abundantly on the steppes  marketing theme, is being launched during Shanghai's first annual tulip festival The Tulip Festivals are held in several North American cities including Albany, New York; Ottawa, Ontario; Holland, Michigan; Orange City, Iowa; Pella, Iowa; Mount Vernon, Washington; and Woodburn, Oregon. .

The joint venture's facility in the Pudong New area of Shanghai employs 67 Chinese citizens. CIMIC/Fort Howard Tissue also has 15 sales representatives operating from district offices in three provinces.
