Forseti Biosciences, Inc. has been chosen as one of 14 Florida-based companies to present at Central Florida Innovation Corporation's "Early Stage Capital Raising Conference" in Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 18, 2002. Forseti is a spin-off company from the Florida Atlantic University “FAU” redirects here. For other uses, see FAU (disambiguation).

and early diagnosis of colon cancer colon cancer, cancer of any part of the colon (often called the large intestine). Colon cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosed in the United States. . The Company's quick-to-market strategy is to co-develop therapeutics with strategic partners and license rights to diagnostic kit-based products.

The Company's core competency is in bioinformatics, antisense antisense, DNA or RNA manipulated in a laboratory so that its components (nucleotides) form a complementary copy of normal, or "sense," messenger RNA (mRNA; see nucleic acid).  drug development, a cancer tissue repository and high-throughput gene expression technology. Using a proprietary gene discovery platform, the Company has obtained a proof of concept with two highly cancer specific genes (CCRG CCRG Credit Card Research Group

and SIM2). U.S. and International patent applications for these two genes covering utility have been published, and are licensed exclusively to Forseti by FAU. The Company has access to proprietary technology for drug design through a strategic partner. The Company has a strong partnership with FAU and access to technology and instrumentation.

Forseti is working to co-develop a novel antisense drug to the SIM2 gene to treat pancreatic cancer, for which no effective therapy is currently available. The Company's scientists were the first to link this gene (SIM2) involved in the Down's Syndrome with select solid tumors. A prototype antisense drug has been designed and has already shown efficacy with minimum toxicity in pre-clinical animal studies. This drug has a product extension capability to colon and prostate cancers. Working with a strategic partner, the Company projects taking the drug to Phase I clinical trials within 15 months. The SIM2 gene will also be licensed as a diagnostic marker for colon and prostate cancers. In particular, the SIM2 gene offers an alternative to the widely used PSA (Professional Services Automation) An information system designed to organize, track and manage all opportunities, work, resources, costs, revenues and invoices to improve the productivity and efficiency of the workforce.  test for the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The second gene, CCRG, will be licensed as a less invasive (serum based) diagnostic marker to detect colon cancer, but also has potential as a biopsy and stool based marker. In addition, antisense to CCRG has shown efficacy in combination therapy with standard chemotherapeutics.

The Company is seeking investment funds for development of these gene-based drugs. Forseti has international level Scientific and Business Advisory Boards. Additional information: http://www.forsetibiosciences.com.
