Formida Software and Oracle Corporation Partner with SOGEI-- The Information Technology Arm of Italian Ministry of Finance-- To Provide Internet Access to 80,000 Users of National Land Data.

Formida and Oracle today announced their joint involvement in the first fully Internet-based European Land Management System, as defined by SOGEI for the Ministry of Finance.

SOGEI has chosen Formida and Oracle to implement the first stage of a Web-based geo-spatial system for on-line processing of all land surveying and property ownership transactions. Formida is also supplying its world-class consulting expertise to support Oracle's extensive software development team. The Oracle8i platform data management system, the Oracle Spatial technology and Formida's visualization Internet platform power a national land database and deliver more efficient land transactions.

This endeavor will ultimately be distributed across 101 regional servers throughout Italy and will support up to 80,000 Web users from central, regional, and local government to the surveyors themselves. The new system will make land, data, plans and many other types of geographical information readily available to authorities. The economic importance is significant as geographic data is related to building construction, road, infrastructure development, civil defense, tax assessment and collection, urban and regional planning, agriculture and a myriad of other uses. Making this information available through the Internet decreases cost, increases convenience and delivers enhanced speed of response.
