), announced today that J.C. Watts, Jr. joined the Clear Channel board of directors effective immediately.

Mr. Watts brings years of experience as a U.S. congressman and community leader to the Clear Channel Board. Mr. Watts's political life began in 1990 when he was elected to the Oklahoma State Corporation Commission. He served as chairman of the three-member commission before seeking and winning Oklahoma's Fourth Congressional District seat in 1994. He won re-election in 1996, 1998 and 2000. He was elected to serve as the Conference Chairman for the House Republican Leadership in 1998, the 4th highest ranking position in his political party. He also served on the Armed Services Committee The term Armed Services Committee could refer to:

  • U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services
 and as a member of the Military Personnel and Procurement Subcommittees. Mr. Watts retired from Congress at the end of the 107th congress.

Mr. Watts experience in government follows a long history of service to the community. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma University of Oklahoma, abbreviated OU, is a coeducational public research university located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Founded in 1890, it existed in Oklahoma Territory near Indian Territory 17 years before the two became the state of Oklahoma.  in 1981 with a B.A. in journalism and playing professional football in the Canadian Football League Canadian Football League (CFL)

The population was 21,904 at the 2006 census estimate.
