Former Army Deputy CIO joins Telos Corporation Board of Directors.


Telos Corporation, a supplier of information security solutions to the federal government, today announced that David Borland, the former Deputy CIO CIO: see American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations.


(Chief Information Officer) The executive officer in charge of information processing in an organization.
 for the U.S. Army/G-6, has been elected to the company's Board of Directors. Borland will provide guidance to the Telos executive team based upon his more than 30 years of experience in the government. He became eligible for this post after resigning his position with the U.S. Army in January 2004.

Prior to Mr. Borland's appointment as the U.S. Army's Deputy CIO, his career Army experience included serving as the Vice Director of Information Systems for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (DISC4); Director of Information Systems Selection and Acquisition Agency; the Deputy Director of Information Systems Selection and Acquisition Agency (ISSAA ISSAA Information Systems Selection & Acquisition Agency (Army) ); and in numerous other positions. In addition, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 through 1970.

Mr. Borland's distinguished work has led to numerous awards, including the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award for Senior Executive Service Members in 1996 and the Distinguished Presidential Rank Award in 2000. He also was awarded the Army's Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service Civilian service is service to a government made as a civilian, particularly such service as an option for anti-militarists and pacifists who object to military service. Examples of countries with thriving civilian service programmes are Switzerland (Swiss Civilian Service),  and the Superior Civilian Service Award. Since 1989, he has been named to the Federal Computer Week Fed 100 four times, and in November of 2000 he was named by Government Computer News as the Department of Defense Executive of the Year.
