Haley, will speak at its World Headquarters on February 28th in honor of the company's tribute to Black History Month. Ambassador Haley, appointed by President Clinton in 1998 to the position of U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of The Gambia in Banjul, West Africa, will share his real life experiences with Owens Corning employees and commemorate the contributions African Americans have made to the world. "Owens Corning is privileged to welcome the Honorable George W. Haley to World Headquarters to participate in our celebration of black history," said Joseph High, Senior Vice President of Human Resources. "As a role model to the African American community, the Honorable Mr. Haley has impacted our country's history as a successful lawyer, Chief Counsel to the Federal Transportation Administration, State Senator and Ambassador. His influence continues to reach the highest levels of our government and beyond its borders. We're truly honored he's chosen to commemorate black history with Owens Corning employees. " As a successful public servant and lawyer, the Honorable George W. Haley has survived some of the harshest events in U.S. civil rights history. He's served as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of The Gambia from 1998 to 2001 under President Clinton. Prior to his appointment to ambassador, Mr. Haley served as Chairman and Commissioner of the Postal Rate Commission Noun 1. February's month-long observance of black history at Owens Corning is supported by its African American Resource Group (AARG AARG Average Annual Rate of Growth AARG Australian Aircraft Restoration Group (Australia) ) and the Owens Corning Multicultural Network (OCMN). Together the two groups are encouraging employees to spend time learning about black history and celebrating the numerous contributions African Americans have made to the world. Throughout the month the AARG and OCMN will also play host to presentations by senior management, local plant leaders and Chelsea Tipton, II, Toledo Symphony Resident Conductor.
