Gary's Tux Shops of Van Nuys has agreed to merge See mail merge and concatenate.  with Chicago-based Gingiss Formalwear in a stock transaction to create the first nationwide chain of tuxedo rental stores.

Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under the merger agreement, Gary's Tux Shops, a local institution for almost 70 years, will become part of Gingiss Formalwear and operate under that name. Gary's already is the largest formal retailer in the West with 175 shops, including 77 in California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W). .

The stock-for-stock merger will give Gingiss a network of 430 stores in 33 states and push it ahead of its closest competitor, Atlanta-based After Hours Adv. 1. after hours - not during regular hours; "he often worked after hours"  by Mitchell's, by more than 200 stores. Before last week, Gingiss had owned or franchised 255 locations.
