Forest Lawn is a generic name for many cemeteries in the United States. The majority of these are old, elaborate cemeteries that historically had a secondary use as a public park:
(R) celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with the dedication of the Plaza of Mesoamerican Heritage, a permanent outdoor interpretive exhibit of stone sculpture at its Hollywood Hills Memorial-Park. The dedication celebration featured traditional Mesoamerican music performed on hand-made instruments by Mexika and a blessing of the plaza and Aztec Fire Dance by In Tlanextli Tlacopan, traditional Aztec Dancers from Mexico City. Newly installed interpretive signage maps the geography of this region; illustrates a timeline from the Olmecs (1500 BC - 300 BC) to the Aztecs (AD 1325 - AD 1521); and discusses the cultural, artistic, and religious roots of highly advanced ancient cultures, including the Olmec, Zapotec, Teotihuacan, Toltec, Maya, Aztec, Totonac, and Huastec. All the artifacts are reproductions created in stone and concrete by artisans in Mexico, Italy, and the United States.

Forest Lawn is the community resource where families and friends turn to celebrate life -- from weddings and baptisms to funerals and family history. Founded in 1906, Forest Lawn serves Southern California through its five locations in Covina Hills, Cypress, Glendale, Hollywood Hills, and Long Beach with 1250 acres, only 750 of which are developed.
