Ford to feature all-new Taurus 2010 at Gitex.

Ford Middle East will premiere its all new 2010 Ford Taurus as the official car for Gitex Technology Week (Gitex), a leading ICT exhibition.

Gitex will be held from October 18 to 22 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

"Ford Motor Company has so much happening at the moment in terms of new world-class quality products, unique technologies and smart as well as safety innovations that clearly indicate the future of Ford is truly upbeat and dynamic," said Waldo Galan, Ford Middle East's managing director.

"Our participation in Gitex for the second consecutive year comes at the right time as we debut our latest flagship model, the all-new 2010 Taurus that has received great acclaim since its first North American appearance this summer," he added.

"The all-new Taurus not only will bring industry-leading technologies and exceptional craftsmanship to its segment, but it will also define what to expect from Ford's future car portfolio: cutting-edge technology, benchmark driving dynamics, premier quality and advanced safety features. Some of the customer-focused technologies available on the 2010 Taurus and most of the new 2010 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models -- that are normally found on super premium and more expensive models -- include:

* Adaptive Cruise Control - allows the driver to set the vehicle cruising speed while using radar technology to monitor traffic travelling up to 600 feet ahead, automatically adjusting speed to help maintain a safe distance between vehicles. * Collision Warning with Brake Support - uses a radar sensor to detect moving vehicles ahead and provides a visual "heads-up" warning signal transmitted across the base of the windshield and an audible warning when slower-moving traffic is detected ahead. The system also pre-charges the brakes and engages an electronic brake assist to help the driver stop more quickly. * MyKey - allows parents or fleet administrators to activate a restricted driving mode. When enabled, MyKey features a persistent BeltMinder with audio mute until safety belts are buckled, an earlier low-fuel warning, and consistently engaged AdvanceTrac stability control, Blind Spot monitoring, Cross Traffic Alert and Forward Collision Warning. Additional programmability includes restrictions on audio volume, limiting top speed to 80 mph and speed chime warnings at 45, 55 or 65 mph. * SecuriCode Keyless Entry - enables vehicle access by unlocking the driver's door using a five-digit code on the new keypad system flush-mounted on the driver's side B-pillar. * Auto High Beam - harnesses sensor technologies to switch headlights to high intensity when no other vehicles are detected, in a range of up to 500 feet for taillight detection, and up to 2,000 feet for oncoming headlight detection. * Rain-Sensing Wipers - use an advanced optical sensor to detect the intensity of rain to adjust wiper speed * Easy Fuel Capless Fuel Filler system- is an industry-exclusive feature that self-seals without a traditional fuel cap. * Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) - consists of two multiple beam radar modules, one each per rear quarter panel. When an approaching vehicle enters the defined blind spot zone, an indicator alert provides warning to the driver in the corresponding side view mirror * Cross Traffic Alert - uses the existing BLIS radar modules to sense oncoming traffic when slowly backing out of a parking spot. This industry-exclusive system functions only while the vehicle is in reverse and warns when cross-traffic appears within three car widths. * Ford SYNC - is the fully integrated, in-vehicle voice-activated communications and entertainment system developed jointly with Microsoft. SYNC's USB port and Bluetooth capability connects to MP3 players, memory sticks and smartphones. * Multi-Contour Seats with Active Motion - are an industry-exclusive feature for both the driver and passenger that reduces fatigue, integrating a six-way lumbar support and subtle rolling pattern massage. * Sony Audio System - features a Class D full-digital amplifier, full DSP capabilities, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, 12 high-quality Sony speakers and 390 watts of continuous power (RMS). This system brings a rich, true surround listening experience to the vehicle. * Power Sunshade - is a luxury-class feature that shades the back windshield at the touch of a button, keeping the car cooler and more comfortable.

The new model also features side air bags that are designed to deploy up to 30 per cent earlier than traditional air bag systems, it also pioneers the mainstream introduction of active crash-avoidance features such as a segment-first, radar-based forward collision warning system that helps drivers avoid accidents.

In addition, the 2010 Taurus comes standard with Ford's proven and award-winning Duratec 3.5-liter V-6 (263 net hp; 249 lbs-ft net torque) paired with a choice of two new six-speed automatic transmissions which includes an option of SelectShift.

This optional transmission offered on the SEL and Limited series features racing-inspired shift control paddles mounted on the steering wheel, while offering the convenience of conventional automatic operation, or a manual shift mode.

"Taurus raises the bar on the full-size sedan segment with an unprecedented offering of technologies typically reserved for luxury cars," Galan said.
