Ford 'World Excellence' Award Won by Wescast.

, Canada, has been honored by Ford Motor Co. with "The World Excellence Gold Award" for supplier performance in 1999. Wescast was one of 11 suppliers worldwide to receive the award at a Ford award ceremony in Detroit on March 27.

The World Excellence Gold Award is Ford's highest supplier recognition. The annual award program, started in 1998, is based on performance metrics Performance metrics are measures of an organizations activities and performance. Performance metrics should support a range of stakeholder needs from customers, shareholders to employees [1].  that were developed jointly by Ford and its suppliers. There are four different types of World Excellence Awards: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Recognition of Achievement. Gold Awards are given to suppliers that excel in quality, cost and delivery. In 1998, Wescast won two Silver Awards for quality and cost.
