John D'Ambrosia, chair of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  P802.3ba 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s Ethernet Task Force, served as chairperson for the Technology Exploration Forum, and also acted as the moderator for the day's discussions. The event, which brought together end users, system vendors and component vendors, explored the future needs of networking for 40 Gigabit Ethernet An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps. Used mostly to connect high-end workstations and servers as well as for network backbones, Gigabit Ethernet transmits full duplex from point to point using switches and half duplex in a shared environment (CSMA/CD) using a hub.  and 100 Gigabit Ethernet.

Goergen and D'Ambrosia are part of the office of the CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization.
