But having a Tyrannosaurus Tyrannosaurus (tīrăn'ōsôr`əs, tĭr–) [Gr.,=tyrant lizard], member of a family, Tyrannosauridae, of bipedal carnivorous saurischian dinosaurs characterized by having strong hind limbs, a muscular tail, and short rex skeleton in your closet will set you back a monster pounds 4.8million when it's auctioned next month. The 66-million-year-old female dinosaur measures 15ft tall by 40ft long and is one of the largest ever discovered. Named Samson, she is made up of 170 bones and is more than 50% complete. She was found in the US state of South Dakota South Dakota (dəkō`tə), state in the N central United States. It is bordered by North Dakota (N), Minnesota and Iowa (E), Nebraska (S), and Wyoming and Montana (W). in 1987 and was excavated in 1992. Thomas Lindgren, of Natural History at auctioneers Bonhams Bonhams is a privately owned British auction house founded in 1793. It is the third largest auctioneer after Sotheby's and Christie's, and conducts around 700 auctions per year. The firm has London salerooms in New Bond Street and Knightsbridge. & Butterfields, hopes the dinosaur's skeleton will be bought by a museum. He said: "We have had tremendous worldwide interest in Samson. Although we cannot predict who the buyer will be, it is our hope that a museum or institution will find the funding to purchase it. "I estimate it will sell for between pounds 3.6million and pounds 4.8million.
