Gateshead magistrates sidelined Sands after she admitted three counts of dishonestly receiving a TV programme with intent to avoid payment.

They fined her pounds 200 for each offence and she was ordered to pay pounds 215 costs.

JPs heard investigators from Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) discovered three games screened at the pub in Eastbourne Avenue, within two weeks in October and November.

And the Sky sports logo was visible on the screen during the matches featuring Chelsea v Liverpool, Arsenal v Spurs and Fulham v Newcastle.

Inquiries revealed the pub did not have a nondomestic contract with Sky to show the games.

Sands told investigators that she was trying to get the pub back on its feet.
