Football World Cup 2002: Fowler sees the World passing by.

Byline: Philip McNulty

THE World Cup stage is made for Robbie Fowler Robert Bernard 'Robbie' Fowler, (born 9 April 1975 in Liverpool) is an English footballer who currently plays for Championship side Cardiff City.

Fowler's career began with Liverpool, with whom he made his debut in 1993.
, a striker who can score goals in any company on any occasion.

So it was with a heavy heart that I saw Fowler looking a forlorn figure after England's draw with Sweden in Saitama, and who jogged along the touchline Touchline

The highest bid and lowest ask at market for a particular security during a given time in the trading day.

The touchline just specifies the best bid or ask available for a particular stock.

in the vain hope of action against Nigeria in Osaka.

As a confirmed Fowler fan, I would put him right alongside Michael Owen

For other people named Michael Owen, see Michael Owen (disambiguation).
Michael James Owen[2] (born December 14, 1979, in Chester, Cheshire)[3] is an English football player currently with Newcastle United.
as the man England would most like that lastminute chance to fall to if it meant winning the World Cup.

But it is not happening for Fowler. I never thought for a second that Aston Villa's Darius Vassell would one day get the nod over Fowler for an England place.

And when Owen and Emile Heskey need a rest, Sven-Goran Eriksson clearly prefers Vassell and Teddy Sheringham as the next choices.

It is a mystery I cannot solve, but it is a mystery nonetheless and Fowler's last World Cup chance is slowly passing him by.
