McLeish insisted he has not made a bid to sign the 38-year-old who has made a big impression at Ibrox after moving from Everton. McLeish said: "I'm pretty close to David. I know him very well. I met him at Tommy Burns' funeral the other week. "Iwas just talking to Noun 1. talking to - a lengthy rebuke; "a good lecture was my father's idea of discipline"; "the teacher gave him a talking to" lecture, speech rebuke, reprehension, reprimand, reproof, reproval - an act or expression of criticism and censure; "he had to him about his season, how well he had done and whether he was staying on at Rangers. "But there wasn't anything else. I've seen the speculation and what's been written but there was no approach to David nor has there been to his agent."
