Football Spy: JEWELL OUT AFTER FANS VOICE FURY.

PAUL JEWELL Paul Jewell (born 28 September 1964, Liverpool, England) is a former footballer and a notable football manager based in the United Kingdom. His former clubs include Liverpool, Bradford City, Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic.  last night quit as Derby County boss when fans turned on him following the home defeat to Ipswich Town.

Jewell ended his draining 13-month spell at Pride Park after Jon Walters' goal handed the Rams a sixth defeat in the nine games, sparking chants of "Jewell out" at the final whistle.

Derby are today expected to confirm Jewell's decision to walk away from a job for the second time. He left Wigan Wigan (wĭg`ən), city (1991 pop. 88,725) and metropolitan district, N England, located in the Manchester metropolitan area on the Douglas River.  in 2006.

After last season's embarrassment of being relegated as the worst side in Premier League history with only 11 points and 29 defeats, Jewell promised a push for promotion this term.

In recent weeks Pearson again backed Jewell but pressure came from the club's US owners, who expected a serious tilt at promotion.

Jewell spent over pounds 5m on strikers and was slated by fans for spending pounds 1.5m on Welsh midfielder Robbie Savage, who was then loaned out to Brighton.
