Football Spy: CITY FLOP JO READY TO GO; EXCLUSIVE.

Byline: By DARREN LEWIS

MANCHESTER CITY striker Jo has been offered an escape route by his old club CSKA Moscow.

The pounds 19million Brazilian has scored just three goals in his 17 appearances so far and is struggling to claim a regular first-team place.

CSKA want to take him back to Russia on loan in the January transfer window after City boss Mark Hughes refused to guarantee him a place in the side despite the protestations of superstar Robinho.

Jo's goal total is a woeful return for a player - full name Joao Alves de Assis Silva - previously spoken of as one of the most vaunted vaunt

On completing his signing in July Hughes boasted the frontman was "capable of scoring 20 goals next season". But although the 21-year-old marksman smashed 44 goals in 77 games for CSKA his goal spree in the Premier League has failed to materialise.

He has also failed to settle in this country after being spooked by the rough and tumble The first use of the term Rough and Tumble for fighting dates back to the early 1700s in the North American frontier. Rough and Tumble fighting was the original American No Holds Barred underground hybrid "sport" that had but one rule - you win by knocking the man out or making him  of English football.

The forward has not helped himself by being fined after going to a bar when he was supposed to be recovering from tonsillitis.

CSKA say that although they are interested in taking him back on loan they will only be able to afford to pay part of his pounds 40,000 a-week wages.

It is an opportunity, however, for Hughes to clear the decks (Naut.) to remove every unnecessary incumbrance in preparation for battle; to prepare for action.
