. HEDGEHUNTER, who fell at the final fence in last season's Grand National, is being trained for another crack at the Aintree marathon next April.

The eight-year-old led the field for most of the way but looked exhausted when crashing out, leaving Amberleigh House to gallop to victory.

``Hedgehunter's main aim is the Aintree National but I will probably give him a few runs over hurdles in the meantime, '' said trainer Willie Mullins.

``He jumped so well in the National and I am hoping we can get him back there with a nice weight this season. ''

. HAYDOCK officials will welcome the Princess Royal to the Merseyside track next Thursday as part of their Racing Welfare Charity Day.

The Princess is president of the charity that supports the unsung heroes who form the backbone of the racing industry, such as stable staff.

The day also marks the opening event in the annual winter series of races over Haydock's special brush or French-style hurdles which are designed to prepare young horses for a future career in steeplechasing.

. MILTON Bradley is planning another tilt at the Hong Kong Sprint in December with his stable star The Tatling.

The seven-year-old has made the frame 10 times from 11 starts this term.
