Football Echo: Aldo'll do a great job.

Byline: JASON McATEER Jason Wynn McAteer (b. 18 June 1971, Birkenhead, England) is a former Irish international football player. He announced his retirement from professional football on 12 June 2007.

JOHN ALDRIDGE For the Royal Academician, see John Aldridge (Royal Academician). For the English cricketer see John Aldridge (cricketer).

John William Aldridge (born Liverpool, 18 September 1958). Aldridge is a former Republic of Ireland international striker.
would be a great appointment as Wales manager.

Aldo has all the necessary attributes. He has a lot of experience at international level and has appeared in the World Cup finals.

There are some big personalities in the Wales team and John certainly has what it takes to handle them. He is a person the players would respect -- a players' manager.

It would be great to see John back in management. I know he is craving it.

The only obstacle I can see is they may be looking to appoint a Welshman. But it didn't do Ireland any harm when they went for Jack Charlton and Mick McCarthy.
