Adams launched a bitter attack on Spurs' Argentine full-back after claiming he over-reacted to Scowcroft's 69th-minute tackle as Leicester suffered their sixth red card of the season.

Adams, who saw Spurs old boys Les Ferdinand and Ben Thatcher score for his team, said: "I'm sure referees watch the telly and if they do then they should know that little Argentines who roll around after tackles get up soon after.

"It's wrong to defend that sort of behaviour and anybody who does that is wrong. I would not allow that at my football club."

Scowcroft (pictured above being sent off ) said: "It was a foul, I admit that. But he got me sent off with his over-reaction and that was out of order."

But acting Spurs boss David Pleat hit back: "I don't believe Mauricio is a cheat. I've just seen his calf and he's also got a lump the size of an egg on his head."

Adams was only denied victory by Jermain Defoe's 88th-minute strike.
