Football: prem ROUND-UP - Sven: Big Sam is one of the best.

NEWCASTLE v MANCHESTER CITY, TONIGHT, 7.45PM: City could shove SamAllardyce to the brink of dismissal by ending their miserable run of away results at Newcastle tonight - but Sven-Goran Eriksson feels the Magpies boss is thick-skinned enough to withstand the pressure.

Few believe the former Bolton boss would survive in the Newcastle hotseat if a Premier League defeat to City at St James' Park was followed by a weekend FA Cup loss at Stoke.

But Eriksson said: "Every time you have a team or a club which is not doing exactly what the fans and media expect, the pressure is there.

"I don't know how much pressure SamAllardyce is under but I do know he has a very thick skin and I don't think anyone will break him down."

One area Eriksson is sure Allardyce might benefit from would be having Michael Owen
