Football: League gets tough with derby evening kick-off; EXCLUSIVE.

Byline: BY NEIL TURNER Neil Turner (born September 16, 1945, Carlisle) is a Labour Party Politician in the United Kingdom. He has been the member of Parliament for Wigan in the north-west of England since a 1999 by-election.  Chester Correspondent

THE Football League last night instructed Wrexham and Chester to play their outstanding League Two derby match at the Deva Stadium on Tuesday, March 7, with a 7.45pm kick off.

The all-ticket game was postponed on December 28 last year because of a frozen pitch. The match had been scheduled with a 12noon kick-off as Cheshire Police want the game to be played during daylight hours.

The League's directive yesterday appears to leave little room for manoeuvre given the police are unwilling to staff the rescheduled match in darkness Adv. 1. in darkness - without light; "the river was sliding darkly under the mist"

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Post last night, Chester chairman Stephan Vaughan said: "We have acknowledged the Football League's instruction and naturally we will adhere to adhere to

 their directive.

"We have passed a copy of the League's letter to the local Ground Safety Advisory Group which includes members of the police force.

"As we are instructed to play by the League, we will play, even if it means staging the game behind closed doors, which would be a ridiculous state of affairs.

"Hopefully sense will prevail and a collision course collision course

between the police and the Football League won't be embarked upon."

Meanwhile, Chester's central defender Phil Bolland Phil Bolland (born 26 August 1976 in Liverpool) is an English professional footballer who currently plays as a central defender for Chester City. He is in his second spell with the Cheshire club.  joined Peterborough United last night until the end of the season. Bolland was a member of Chester's side who won the Nationwide Conference championship two years ago.

Vaughan said: "We thank Phil for his contribution while at Chester and of course his part in the championship year will never be forgotten. We wish him well for the future."

City are to circulate the names of four other players available for transfer. Chester manager Keith Curle said: "I will not name the players yet because I will speak to them individually first.

"We will be bolstering the squad and I will be talking to a couple of players over the weekend. Hopefully there will be developments next week."

Chester are in action tomorrow when they travel to Bristol Rovers and they will include loan signings Wayne Corden and Derek Asamoah, both players were ineligible for Tueday's FA Cup tie against Cheltenham.
