Football: Le Guen: Don't be a Burke.

RANGERS boss Paul Le Guen Paul Le Guen (born March 1, 1964 in Pencran, Brittany) is a former French international footballer and a football manager. He is currently the manager of Paris Saint-Germain.  last night insisted the club won't be held to ransom by Chris Burke's wage demands.

The winger, whose contract is up in the summer, returned to the negotiating table this week after initially cancelling new contract talks.

But no deal has been struck with Burke's father, who acts as his agent, and Le Guen's patience is wearing thin.

The Frenchman insisted he had no problem with Burke seeking a huge hike in wages - he is believed to have snubbed a pounds 12,000- a-week offer - but Le Guen is adamant that Rangers won't cave in to outrageous demands.

He said: "Players can ask for big salaries - it's the market.

"I don't have a problem with Chris asking for a certain amount of money - but we can say no.

"If he then says he wants more he can go. It's up to him to decide. He is free to do so - he has the cards in his hands.

"But I am not shocked by the market. It's the same in every field of life."

Burke is currently out injured with shoulder damage but has returned to light training and should be fit for first-team duty in January.

If he doesn't sign a new contract with Rangers, the Scotland internationalist in·ter·na·tion·al·ism

But Le Guen wants the issue sorted one way or the other - and the sooner the better.

He added: "I am hopeful he will sign. But it's time now to make a decision, that is clear.

"It's not long before January arrives and we need to know. But it is up to him."
