So Larsson believes the money men invasion is now an accepted part of top flight football, but nothing that should worry the players on the pitch.

"The takeover talk hasn't bothered the players yet and it isn't affecting me at all right now," said Larsson, who was due to come back into the Blues team today after a bout of illness.

"It is something that we have no control over. All we are thinking about is playing for Birmingham and trying desperately to get results. The main concern is simply playing for the manager, we can't afford to think about who the new owner might be.

"But these days it seems to be very much part of the game that Premier League clubs are being taken over. It is something nearly all the players at this level experience at one time or another so it's certainly nothing unusual.

"I and all the rest of the lads are Birmingham City players and all we want to do is play and do our best for the club."
