SAMMY LEE Sammy Lee is the name of:

 will leave England's World Cup training camp to have a secret interview for the job as Charlton boss.

Lee, assistant to England coach Sven Goran Eriksson, is due to jet to London and back to the squad's base in Portugal in a hush-hush operation as Charlton try to speed up their search for a manager.

England Under-21 coach Peter Taylor pulled out of the running last night after being interviewed, and Lee has emerged as a surprise candidate to succeed Alan Curbishley Llewellyn Charles 'Alan' Curbishley (born 8 November 1957 in Forest Gate, East London), is a former professional footballer and the current manager of West Ham United.[1] Background .  at Bolton, as well as helping out Eriksson.

But the former England and Liverpool midfielder has demonstrated his wealth of knowledge and coaching ability with his country and club sides - and now wants to be a manager in his own right.

Hull City manager Taylor, who Lee has worked with, said he no longer wished to be considered for the vacancy at The Valley. Taylor added: "I've never been 100 per cent happy leaving Hull City. I'm very happy there and always have been.
