Football: Blackmore toasts win; WELSH PREMIER Port Talbot Town 0 Bangor City 2.

BANGOR City's new management regime of Clayton Blackmore Clayton Graham Blackmore (born September 23, 1964 in Neath) is a Welsh former football player. He was a combative player who excelled at full back or in defence but could play equally well in midfield or as an emergency forward.  and Mel Jones got the big boost they wanted in a thoroughly-deserved win over high-flyers Port Talbot Port Talbot (tôl`bət), town (1981 pop. 40,078), Neath Port Talbot, S Wales, at the mouth of the Avon (Afan) River on Swansea Bay. Blackmore said: "A couple of weeks ago, we would have settled for a draw at Port Talbot, but we were well worth this win which has made the players very happy.

"We knew it would be tough there, because it is a small pitch, the surface was hard because it is sand-based and they closed down on us quickly, so we had to rule out playing pretty football.

"Even so, we carved out some good stuff and it was particularly pleasing in the second half that they hardly got in a shot, despite having a gale-force wind behind them."

City had dictated the trends in the first half, with the front duo of Carl Lamb and Paul Roberts starring, and both got in shots that would have beaten a lesser keeper than Neil Thomas The Reverend Neil G. Lamb burst through on the right twice to explode rockets, but Thomas fended them away and, when Roberts squirmed into a shooting position at a tight angle on the left, the keeper again lunged in to block.

The only times that City's Andy Price was called into action, he dealt competently with a header and a shot from Rhys Griffiths Rhys Griffiths (born March 1 1980) is a Welsh semi-professional footballer, currently playing for Llanelli while also working as a firefighter. Bangor's overdue breakthrough was timed at 39 minutes, when Roberts - fouled just outside the box - drilled the resultant free-kick through the line of defenders and beyond Thomas.

The points were in the bag when Killackey fired home on 51 minutes.
